This actually started out as trying to make a walthers SW1 pass for something that I would be happy with in the classic colors, and sticking to my 1961ish era. Finally got to the point where the Sd"s are now on ebay as well as most of the GPs. As mush as I tried with the SW1, it never ran on the CN system, and wasn't going to cut it. Hence the SC, GTW only had two, right back in 1938. So far its the Cannon cab, and discovered I have to modify the door, as the hood doesn't have the EMD taper yet, and also discovered that originally the stepwells were much narrower than they are on succeeding models. the top of hood and rad section are from and Athearn SW7 sanded smooth, and the two sides are completed no from a cut and paste method building up the doors and panel with flat sheet and styrene strip. With the smaller steps I've had to splice two Athearn sills together to get the right length, not sure if it will stay, or will go with a complete new sill, have both on the desk in progress. Hopefully I can mill the SW1 frame to fit under the sill, to keep both truck powered as the front sandbox will not fit over the worm cover. Its been a while since I've been on photobucket, and trying to get the pics loaded and posted here, hopefully this weekend if I can find my techie hat somewhere!

decided to go with the custom built sill and steps, not liking the way the Athearn SW sills worked out, Will be a lot more work do the steps and end plates, but one for a penny, in for a pound. LOL, and now on the search for a winton 201a sound system, was just going to use the wathers SW1 chassis to keep both trucks powered, but might as well have the sound to as, this was prime mover will be a big difference in a seaof 567s, Now just to find who makes a winton sound decorder? Any thoughts?

Try ESU. They make tiny decoders and might have something close to a Winton prime mover. I'm biased though because I have a Lokprogrammer to work on all my sound stuff. Life is hard without it...

small set back, was measuring for the stacks and discovered my taper was wrong, so having to peel back part of the roof and reshape the taper to the cab, I has somehow made it too long, still working to making the Wathers SW1 chassis a size that will fit under my sill and still hold the trucks without the worm gears interfering, cutting filing, and going to try to mill it thinner a bit, I hope

Use a Kato drive.

looked at a kato drive, but are designed for a full hood, with the step back, and small box on the front deck the worm gear interfers with the hood, the SW1 trucks have the worm in the center of the truck, and not on the end, so they will still work
