Really nice car!! If you added the air intakes at the ends it would be 99% there.

It's been a while, but I just got my camera back so I can post some more pictures for you guys. Here's the progress as of today: I've painted the draft gear, finished detailing the door frames on the man doors, finished the track for the other sliding door, added the grab irons in the corners, filed the curves in the ends of the sills, and started adding small details like the door stops and fuel fillers. It's almost ready for paint! The door stops are scratchbuilt from little bits of styrene.

Looks very good already. I can't wait to see it painted.
You deserve all credits for having such patience of doing it all from scratch, part by part. It is the very first time I can visualize a similar project with another modeler and it's kinda fun to compare how different the sequences, materials, parts and skills used in the making can vary from one to another. I am much more at ease working with metal parts may it be brass, iron, aluminum or lead, than styrene. I just could not imagine myself cutting such tiny plastic parts as you did. Geez, you even scratch build the end ladders...
I am following your progress with interest. I like my own, and I have been able to operate it recently and am happy with it. But looks like yours will be even more accurate to the prototype.

They are parts from the original kit I started off with.

Niiiice! Indeed, your battery box is pretty well done. Such as the rest of the car anyways. Are you going to paint the red trucks too, or have them weathered?

Stephane Thanks Stephane, I'll just make them a weathered brown just like any other freight car truck. Based on the prototype photos I have seen from when they were freshly built, the red on the trucks was just overspray from the body. I imagine it didn't last long before getting covered up by road grime. None of the photos I have taken of DBCs between 2015 and now show any trace of red left.

So crisp and so clean... fresh from the factory! I Absolutely love the end result! Seeing the whole car from start to finish is inspirational and can't wait to see where you go from here!

The car turned out great, Is there working strobes and sound? no, I haven't gotten quite that far yet. It will get done in the future, but it's not a big priority for me right now.

So I've had this car finished for quite a while, but I realized I'd never posted a '100% finished' photo. Final touches included: - added the air compressor cooling pipes on the roof - painting both the pipes and the exhaust stack black - painted the wheelsets and trucks - chopped the trip pins from the couplers - added Hi-Tech Details air hoses - added the small Sinclair antennas for the Locotrol on the roof
