Athearn CSX SD60. She wears number 8706. Needs the following: - Handrails Installed and Painted **COMPLETED ON MARCH 10, 2009**
- Needs to be Weathered
- Install a TCS T4XP (4 functions) or TCS T6XP (6 functions) or NCE D13SRJ (6 functions) (havnt decided yet) DCC Decoder
According to the CSX Roster, this loco should be a YN3 paint scheme. #8706 is known as the "Stealth" Scheme. CSX did a ton of different paint schemes back in the mid to late 80's. This was one of them. They didnt last long tho, and most had been repainted by the early 90's. So in a way, you could call this a "fantasy" paint scheme for the CSX. Stealth units were all CSX gray from the walkway up and CSX blue from the walkway down. Some had the front and rear painted yellow with CSX Gray from the walkway up and CSX Blue from the walkway down, and some had the front, rear, walkway, and railings painted yellow while everything else was the same. Mine is like the second one described, with the front and rear painted yellow with CSX logos. ~~UPDATE MARCH 10, 2009~~ I also painted the handrails on this unit as well, some quick pics of this unit in the lead of a chip train

That almost looks like a Nickel Plate caboose. Hi Randy, im not sure what kind of caboose it is, i model the modern era so i dont know what the different types of cabooses are. But i got this from a buddy of mine over at the Gauge, Wayne (doctorwayne). He originally had 4 of these Grand Valley SW1200RS's. This was the last of the 4 he sold, its really a BEAUTIFUL model, and he did a great job painting and detailing it. On the box it came in, his hand righting says the caboose is a Bay Window Caboose. Definitely one of my favorite locos in my roster ;D and you can bet ill be running this caboose whenever this little switcher is working ;D ;D

Thats one heck of a fleet you got there Josh, I like how you included a pic of the prototype with your models, gives a good feeling of what you are out to accomplish, great job.

Thanks Scott ;D I used to have around 45-50 locos, most of these were Athearn Blue Box Loocs, i got rid of all my Athearn Blue Box's, weather they were dummies or powered, i sold them all, many of which went to Nick (upnick) ;D He has fitted them with DCC ;D This left me with about 10 locos lol. My roster was looking pretty sad, got my Tax Return back in the end of Jan/beginning of Feb. this year, bought 14 locos lol Im no weathering expert, but im certainly going to be referring to the pictures when it comes to weathering my locos ;D
