Robbins Rail/A-Line/Con-Cor Greenville 60' Boxcar Kit, Shaved off the rivits to make the car look like Thrall car. Changed the wheelbase of the underframe from 41' to 46' to match the prototype and replaced the coupler pockets with Moloco Cushion Style coupler pockets. Also carved off the plug door fittings and glued a Plate C Superior Door I pirated off an Intermountain 5283CF Boxcar kit. Painted the car with Scalecoat Black, Boxcar Red and Silver paints and lettered with Mask Island decals. The Rock Island ordered a group of these cars, and about ten of them (including this car) were in service hauling Chevrolet Rear Axle assemblies from Detroit to the various final assembly plants. Intermountain Pullman Standarad 60' Boxcar Kit, painted with Scalecoat II ATSF Mineral Brown and Silver Paints, then lettered with Microscale Decals. The NP purchased 6 of these boxcars for pool service to the Pontiac plant in Flint Michigan, the assignment was quickly painted over and they ended up in general service on the NP hauling paper, wood and wood pulp.

A Con-Cor 60' Auto Parts Boxcar kit, changed the wheelbase from 41' to 46' and added Molco ACF Extended Coupler pockets to the underframe. Also carved off the rivits and scored the weld lines. Car was painted with Scalecoat II PRR Freight Car Red and lettered with Dr. George Drake's/ Mark Vaughns decals. The 167 above the PRR notes that this car is assigned to the Cincinnati, OH transmission plant moving transmissions to the final assembly plants. Finally, the Resurrection project, I started this old Robbins Rails kit over 40 years ago and had glued the weight to the underframe before packing the car away before one of my moves, well the GOO had not completed outgassing and ended up melting the underframe into a blob. I found a junker 60' box and appropriated the frame and modified it with Hydro-Cushioning and Coupler pockets from Moloco to match the prototype. Also scrounged the junk box for ladders that matched the factory applied paint. The 190 above the NKP means the car was assigned to the Monroe MI stamping plant which mostly made bumpers for Ford Cars. The modified frame! The finished car! (The last new cars the NKP received before the N&W merger) Rick Jesionowski

60' Con-Cor Boxcar kit, removed the rivits to more closely replicate an ACF built car, also changed the wheelbase from 41' to 46' to match the prototype, added grabs and walkover platforms to the end of the car. Removed the plug door hardware and substituted a pair of YSD left over from an IMRC 5283 Boxcar kit which fit perfectly. Car was painted with Scalecoat II Tuscan Red and lettered with decals from Microscale, Mark Vaughn and Herald King. Car was in auto parts service hauling engines from the Tonawanda Plants in Bufallo to final assembly plants. Thanks for looking! Rick Jesionowski
