In my NYC Color Guide Vol 2, I found a picture of this car, a Despatch Shops 60' Boxcar, but one that used Stanray Ends rather than their own distinctive ends. It matched the old Robbins Rails 60' Boxcar very well except the RR Car had Plug Doors. I carved off the plug doors and made Superior doors out of Evergreen Sheet Plastic and Scale 1"x 3" Strips. Also added a Plano Walkover Platform at the end. Kept the original 41' wheelbase as that was what the equipment diagram indicated. Painted with Floquil Jade Green and lettered with a mixture of Walthers and Microscale Decals. These cars were in GM and Chrysler Service and there were 204 members of this lot of cars. Intermountain 60' PS Boxcar Kit, painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red and Floquil Platinum Mist Paints, then lettered with Mask Island Decals. The Diamond T symbol at the end of the car meant that it was in Ternstedt service for GM. Ternstedt was the inventor of the car window crank and started his own company with the aid of Fisher Body Co. Both became divisions of GM and Ternstedt had plants in Detroit and Trenton, NJ. making a myriad of parts for GM vehicles. This car was assigned to the Trenton, NJ plant. Thanks for looking Rick J

Finished a couple of more 60' Auto Parts Cars! Con-Cor 60' Greenville Auto Parts Car, kit built without any modifications as the MP cars were the short (41') wheelbase. Car was assigned to the Detroit and Toledo Shoreline to the Monroe Bumper Plant for Ford. Car Painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red and Floquil Platinum Mist Paints and lettered with Oddballs Decals. Another 60' Greenville Boxcar Kit, but this time I removed the rivit detail and changed the wheelbase to 46' to match the ACF Cars acquired by the SP for Ford Service in the Milpitas Pool. Car painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red and lettered with Herald King and Walther's Decals. Rick Jesionowski

Haha! You bet! Althought they are quite transparent, I might end up doubling them up.

There was a time in my life when I would have been greatly interested in your models, as references to what I was wanting to model, but that time has passed. Promised myself a few decades ago (literally) that if a Ten Wheeler came out in N-scale I would model steam... so now I am, along with some heavy electric motor dabbling.
Beautiful models... they definitely could be looked upon as a masterful resource for others to use as references!!! Thanks so much for sharing your work, it is appreciated!!!

These are just amazing models. I will also be participating in a trade show. I have two classic cars that are wrapped in custom vehicle wraps that are very unique. One of them is for sale. I am sure I would get a customer for that in the show.

Something else to consider in regards to these models is that many roads also rostered appliance boxcars that were identical or nearly so to many of the cars shared. The biggest difference? The load weight is 100T and the cars have the appropriate trucks to match along with 36" wheels... could be a whole new direction folks could go into...

I got a different 60' Boxcar done this past week: An Athearn FMC 60' Hi-Cube Boxcar Kit, painted with Scalecoat II B&M Blue Paint and lettered with Herald King Decals. The Arkansas Louisiana Missouri rostered a number of these cars, and since the railroad was owned at one time by the Georgia Pacific Corp, I would think these would be in paper service as a number of railroads used 60' boxcars for paper service. Rick, those cars were indeed in paper service for the International Paper Company plant at Bastrop, LA on the ALM. Georgia Pacific had their own fleet of paper cars, most marked for the Ashley, Drew & Northern Railroad (which were painted green and marked with a beautiful herald). The ADN cars were dedicated to GP's Crossett, AR mill, but when GP bought the ALM in 1991, the ALM fleet was also used extensively at Crossett.

Atlas ACF 60' Double Door Boxcar kit, painted with Scalecoat II Boxcar Red and Silver paints then lettered with Microscale Decals. The WM had some ACF cars with 10' doors for paper service, but these cars were in the Auto Parts service for GM with a return to Pontiac MI where there were several plants that needed these types of cars for the heavy parts like engines, transmissions and differentials.
