Pretty much photos but I think you sent it. You're actually the first one to pick up on the 2112 thing! Three reasons I chose that number. 1) I have photos of it in the yard in New Carlisle. 2) Rush 2112 3) In the Trailer Park Boys "Closer to the Heart" episode where Ricky "borrows" Alex from his hotel room, the room number is 2112.

That's awesome Taylor. Makes me want to finish the rebuild of my N-Scale version.
Just one thought, regarding the period your HR-616 is from. As new, I think they had a similar exhaust manifold to the LRC, which had a forward mounted exhaust stack. Later on, they received a modification and ended up with the same exhaust layout as other big MLW's. This change may have been made about the same time that ditch lights were added to the front walkway.
Great work. Cheers Steve NZ

According to the guru on these locos (Wendell Lemon) The exhaust was twin 10" stainless tubes. After about 4 years of troublesome operation they were removed. It was similar to the LRC only they were internal on the HRs and blanketed.

I've met Wendell Lemon a couple of times at the Moncton (New Brunswick) train show in April. For those that don't know, he was a carman at the diesel shops in Moncton through the 70's and 80's and worked on all of CN's MLW's. He's a major go-to for questions like that for us in Atlantic Canada and beyond. Like you said Steve, the dual stacks were initially located towards the front end of the locomotive but relocated closer to the rear end within a few years. They plated over the old hole with sheet metal. Even early on they were living up to their "Highly Reliable" name. I'd love to see a photo clearly showing the early stack location. Here are some photos from tonight. I spent most of the evening fitting 2112 to its chassis. The initial fit was very close but shims in a couple of places filled in the gap and took care of the slight inward bow the shell had taken on across the lenght of one side. The chassis was from a Bowser C630M. A member on here saw that I was talking about building one of these a little over a year ago and offered to send me a powered chassis. Wish I could remember who it was so I could thank him again.

Thanks Bill, that's the one I was trying to find. I copied it a while ago , but was trying to find the web address so I could give due credit. I'm using this photo to help with my N-Scale HR-616 rebuild as I want to make one of the "7000" series demonstrated on CP Rail. Your HO scale version looks so much better, and not just because it's bigger! Cheers Steve NZ

Apart from adding a decoder, CN 2112 is finally finished.

That's a work of art. I'll be happy if mine ends up looking half as good. Nice job on the stack relocation. Cheers Steve NZ

I'll be in Toronto for a couple days this summer. Will probably bring it out to Credit Valley while I'm up. Can't commit to any RPM's though as much as I'd like to.
A working man I am....
