In the future, where EMD does a lot more rebuilding....they use retro builders plates.... What if the EPA standards are rolled back and you could use a double 710? how much horsepower would that be? You asked I answered hehehehehe

So I made the fans, they're about 60" and will sit in 2 wells or 2 fans each under wire screen. I needed something heavy duty so I chose Maelstrom Death Touch 4000 Super Turbo fans... This is how they turned out, I used the cricut to cut them... Just a bit below the screen and the lettering can be read with a magnifying glass...

Wow! They were experimenting with something very similar in 1947, on P-47s... Chuck Yeager was the test pilot.
.... they were looking for supersonic prop blades.

The scimitar blades look like a bunch of machete's stuck in a banana, which reminded me I hadn't made a front fan yet, so I used the star feature in Inkscape and created an 8 blade fan and cut it out with the Cricut and came up with the Banana Chopper 8.... I think I might actually make this fan spin when in operation....

Wow! Love the front fan. Glad I could help. As an aside the scimitar shaped blades are to get more air foil surface area WITHOuT going supersonic. When you break the sound barrier all kinds of things happen in fluid dynamics that are usually not helpful to your efforts. (BTW that's the distinctive sound of a UH-1 "Huey" the main rotors just touching the sound barrier.

The blowers have arrived.... the main equipment blower will be a set of 4 SD50/60 blowers together with a huge grill above... This is the proposed mock up: And here it is laying down: Now to do a ton of wet sanding....

Those blower housings will need to be on the engineer's side of the hood so as to have a long walkway for the crew during switching chores

First pass with the bondo.... after roughing in the cutouts and doing some rough sanding it was time to assemble the blower and do some bondo... That's a big opening for a mighty big blower.... After a bit of bondo, I can't make some screens and frames for the roof fans. It's just about time to re-attach the front pilot and the cab section.
