Shells have been shipped to Kaslo, the first 50 that is. John should have them out the door to those who preordered by Dec 1.

I emailed John last week about availability. Shells are available, unfortunately funds are not.

Eric,
What are you using for a fuel tank? The standard Atlas one is too long, as the 8CM tank is 3900 gallons.
Thanks

I am still waiting for my Dash8 shell to start the custom frame. I also plan to build a correct fuel tank for the dash8 and cast it in resin... Éric

Next 50 are being made as we speak. They should be ready for Jan 2. Eric, yours is in there.

As one of those who pre-ordered the shell over ten (!) years ago I received mine last week. It looks okay, but there is a fair bit of what looks like delamination around almost all the roof hatches and the the pair of rear access hatches. At the cab end, the window posts between the two outside windshields are both cracked, and the and grab supports above the windshields and on the cab roof are poorly formed (I'll be removing them and replacing with styrene to make them "crisp" and of uniform thickness). I'd like to know if others have such problems before I contact John.

Send John an email, he will deal with it.

I finally got my hands on one and it looks great. Which chassis is the best to work from the Atlas or Bowser C630M? I know the custom frame is best but I have chassis on hand already.

I'm not sure about the Bowser frame, I am using the Atlas frame and it requires quite a bit of machining to get the correct height and the shell to sit properly. I just need to set the coupler height, mill the frame to the proper height and install the couplers. Fuel tank is complete and installed, made from 2 U30C Atlas tanks. I will post some pictures soon.

The Bowser C630M frame is 22" too short, the Atlas is the right length, and the Bowser trucks fit it, but there is frame material to be removed to fit the body.

Sean,
I am still going to build my Kaslo kit and fore go the Rapido. Looking at the Prepaint sample it doesn't seem to add up. With all the headlight, number boards work and no working ditch lights?

Yeah its basically an Athearn RTR of 10 years ago. No grabs, MU hoses etc. Kaslo might be able to sell etchings to dress them up.

Companies like Bowser can make models with working ditch lights, grabs, MU hoses and so on for the same MRSP I might add.

There will be those that will want to dress up the Rapido Dash-8 by adding details such as see-through steps. The question becomes are the two shells similar enough that the etchings can be used with little or no modification. Reading postings on other sites and/or FB, people are also interested in the Rapido model to serve as a donor for the underframe and drive-line for their Kaslo shells. James Bilbrey LaVergne, TN

I ordered this kit from Kaslo and what I received was no good at all. all details would have to be sanded down and replaced with new parts. I contacted John and he sent me a new shell however it was worse than the first one. so I give up the kit and shell are now for sale on ebay and I pre ordered one from Rapido. The released version will not look anything like the pre production model it will have etched grills and all the details are included separately.

I picked up four Kaslo shells awhile back, despite them not really figuring into my modeling needs. Unfortunately at this point I'm pretty much stuck with them for if I tried to sell them it would be at a loss. Since I haven't acquired drives for these, I would be quite interested if Rapido were to sell standalone drives. I know realistically this won't happen, but it would be nice.

Sound like you had these ones. The latest iterations were fixed from Kaslo, but I guess it's moot at this point.
