Hi all fellow diesel loco members. I'm looking for info as to how to buy a HO scale model of an Alco S6 switcher. Dont know if any such piece exists but in viewing the model page of an SP Alco S6 on this internet site espee.railfan.net the host mentions a brass model being the only ever produced version. I also was wondering the merrits of attempting a serious kitbash of a Bachmann "HO" S-4 switcher rather than using an Atlas model of which i have a mate with 1 that i might be able to buy from him. His model was an older (as in 199?), model that was factory painted in SP Tiger stripe but unfortunately he had to deface the factory SP paint scheme on this model, so the SP lettering & striping was painted out years ago with black paint applied with a brush. YUK!!!!!!. I would be willing to buy brass (for reasonable money), a resin kit (if 1 exists), or talk to another modeler who might've built his or her own model. Thanks. Pete. Australia

Alco models brass are the only ones I know of... Bachmann S4s are devoid of rivets on the cab, so that's one hurdle. You'd have to scratch the entire longhood. I converted an S4 to an S7 by removing the sides of the S4, but you'd have to go a bit further by removing the shutters...
