Those trees look really good. You say that they took forever to make, how much time per tree do you have in them?

Looking good, what's your method? I see wood dowels in the background, I assume that was the base for the trunk? How tall are the trees, they look huge!

Steve: approx two to three hours per tree, give or take
Mayor: yes wood dowel for the trunks carved to create the taper, then sanded, and I take a coarse blade to scratch in bark detail. I then branch by branch drill and glue in caspia to simulate the whorls up the trunk then hit them with gray spray paint. The tricky part is applying static grass (2mm) dark green to the branches. I use spray adhesive by krylon it seems to work, then apply the foliage with a homemade applicator. As far as sealing them I'm on the fence as to what to use ?? That's it in a nutshell, or a pine cone lol, it sounds easier said than done.

Icghogger; I'll try and compile a step by step for the next batch. Ill do it as a new thread likely just keep an eye out for it, ill admit it's a bit of a process. And Thanks again guys for the kind remarks, it's humbling really, there's so many great modellers on this forum.

Great trees, try using a 12" wood rasp to get the texture on the trunk or get a 1" X 4" X 12" board and drive finish nails though it, randomly driving them on one end for about 2"'s. Clamp the board down, with the nails away from you and draw the dowel towards you after you taper it, across the nails. Both are quick and get good results.
Way Fun RJ

Those are some of the best looking trees I have ever seen for a layout. Great job.

Thanks for the tip RJ ill have to try that out when I do more, and thanks for the remarks Paulie. As an update for a request to do a step by step for these trees, I haven't had much time lately to dive into more but I see some on the horizon. Keep a loose eye on this thread for an update, and hopefully I should have something together in the coming weeks .
Thanks again,
