Those handrail stanchions are really quite something. I suspect they aren't easy to find either.
Glad to know where that Danger decal on your set goes. I was 99% sure it was the "Danger Rotating Equipment" warning but nice to know for sure.

RS18 is coming along...now I know why model rr'ers do EMDs predominately...Alcos are friggin' hard! I have an idea to make the RS3 end railing a bit easier, us the RS32 ends with similar mods to square out the uprights like this RS18. The RS3s had the steel sheet 'tongue' drop steps, not these perforated style like on the RS18. One thing is for sure, I won't have a fleet of RSs! They are ALOT of work!

It seems like an easy project at the time doesn't it?

Almost all the handrails are on! Just the rear end to do. I used the RS32/36 dropstep and tall stanchions, added my brass flatstock squares and wire. A BIT easier than the RS18...not much. Still need to put the MU on. The headlight was done using a DA sealed beam conversion cover on the inside of the shell, painted the area Humbrol chrome, and added LS22s. The glass is just Microscale kristal kleer stretched over the hole. I think it captures the look I was after.

They may be a lot of work Sean but it turned out real nice. Ill echo the other comments, those rails look real good.

It is all coming along very nice! I agree that those stanchions are nice. Did you ever figure out who makes them? I have an upcoming project and I thought I would have to make stanchions out of flat stock.

No not yet. I'm pretty sure the ones on the RS3 are Train Station products. I know they're not Precision scale because their verticals are square, not flat stock like these.
The RS18 stanchions came in an unmarked pack....no idea.

Thank you. They might be Smokey Valley stanchions SMV-18?
