Just thought I'd put it out there Jake.
Buying over priced brass products takes the fun out of trying to make stuff out of plastic and resin part IMHO.
Cant wait to see these finished Mr. Jake. :-)

I hear ya. Not everything I build turns out, but I can still say that I built it. That's why Im still working on the SW hood casting till I get one that I like

I agree its more fun to crate it yourself, then you can say "I made that" instead of "I bought that".
For being a trial build it sure looks good to me, Id have no problem saying that was my best effort. When you do your proto build i hope you post it as well.

Managed to some work done at least. Kind of doing some things out of order, as I want to see how things look, and not sure how much detail yet to add on the ends, and the handrails for this unit

Just have to add the windows and some weathering, and then hang a for sale sign on it..

Yes I.ve tried several times to lift it, but even in warm water and then holding it down after a few days it comes back the same, Next step is to make a small brass box to slid in the opening and then use the smokey valley rad grills to cover it. This is the first version, Athearn hood cab and frame, the next one will be with the proto hood but have to modify the front casting to match the width, and with the Cannon cab. Hot water wont help much.... Try the microwave, it will soften the resind enough for you to correct the problem.
