Does anyone have any pictures of one of the demo units they could post?

Well I finally got the chance to open my 2nd C430, this one is not sound equipped and is Conrail 2053. Upon first inspection first thing I noticed is the rear of the longhood is even more cocked to the left than my other Bowser Alcos. Everyone else that has any Bowser Alco, do me a favor and check yours out. I just want to get an idea if they all are this way or just certain batches. Despite the minor issues I really give Bowser props, they are doing stuff no other manufacturer would touch. Maybe we can talk Bowser into doing some of the unique GE's C32-8, C39-8, B36-7, etc

Could you take a picture of the defect and post?

I'll tell ya what, at the price they are charging for these things, the bodies should sit straight for sure. I only wanted one C-430, and I made my own.

I emailed Bowser with photos of my C430's next to the C636 I already fixed. I have no idea how to post photos here anymore, I'm goin to work on that now as I would like to post photos of my Monongahela Super 7's. edit.. So here are some photos, if they work. Hopefully you can see the longhood issue. It's more prominent in person.

Are you sure that any tangs from when the hoods were connected to molding sprues isn't still along the bottom edge of the hood? Sometimes these 'nibs' keep the body from resting down in the groove on the deck.

I came up with a solution last night, I pulled the longhood from the walkway and checked if out, I had to sand the very bottom edge of the hood thinner and file to groove it sits in wider. After I got it to sit right I used a bit of thin plastic weld to hold it all together. All in all it took about 2 hours to do it carefully so I didn't damage the paint. I also emailed Bowser with photos and all I got back was. ( body lean, the hood must not be pressed down).

You shouldn't have to do that for what they are charging. Poor quality control again.

I know everything new has it's minor issues, but what kind of irritated me about the situation was response I got back from Bowser after I praised their work and said how good they did with the Alcos.

At least you got a response. I emailed them a week ago about some parts, and I have yet to receive a reply.
I'm wondering if the folks that suggested I do that just caught him on a good day.
Really glad I only have three Browsers on the roster, and it looks like one is going to be stripped of parts.

if youre looking to get in touch with Bowser, try the phone number listed, I usually email in my list, and then give them a call for payment details, haven't had any problems.

You shouldn't have to do that for what they are charging. Poor quality control again. Normally I would say we are modelers, not toy train people, and should be able to correct minor imperfectns......especially those of us on the detailer. But I agree with Randy on this one, for the price they are charging stuff like this shouldnt happen. I can deal with one-off or road specific detail or two being missed, but not sitting straight on the frame is a major miss on their part. Unfortunately everyone will still buy them up so there is no incentive for them to fix the issue. If they were stuck with he whole production run they would learn their lesson.

Mike, you hit the nail right on the head. Quality issues and cost issues permeate this hobby, but as long as people still purchase the products, the manufacturers have no reason to spend the extra money to correct the problems or reduce the cost of their products.

I heard some guys got lemons with the C630M's as well...I bought four from three different places and had no issues (other than the crappy cab of course) but some received really loud units that made grinding noises and had to return them. I semi-frequently run mine and we operate on a buddy's layout almost every week and his two are probably the best runners he has.
Makes me wonder what the issue is here with the 430's as well, obivously, like everything else there will be some duds but these are all coming from the same molds so it makes you wonder how much variation between individual models there really is. Messed up drives are one thing but you would think the rest of the models should be fairly static, that is to say, if there is an issue with one it should appear on all of them.

A friend brought one over tot eh house to show me. It was the demonstrator. Looks great. The sound though was unbelievably AWESOME!!!!!! Gosh that thing sounded great. It appears from what I understand that they nailed the sound on this thing.
As far as the model goes. The ONLY thing I would add are sanding hoses. Other than that, the detail level is great. Oh yeah and also I would add scale coupler pockets.
