Has anyone built or know where I might find drawings for a CN NF210? Also does anyone know what the trucks look like? I know they are six axle but don't know if they resemble an export six axle truck or the A-1-A truck used under the GMD-1. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the info. I have an idea on how to build the body, hood, cab and frame. The trucks are a different story.

I see a scratch build from a GP7/9 or SD9, a modified old EMD switcher cab, radiator grills and fans from a SD9, and truck sideframes of spanish Roco 333 series locomotive. The truck is not like A1A GMD1 or G8/G12 export locomotives. I think I have some drawings from an old model railroader magazine, I will post it for you.

The body will be built out of a portion of a P2K SD9 hood with Cannon doors. The cab will be built out of Cannon parts and styrene. Fans will be Cannon. Haven't decided how I want to build the winterization hatch yet. Lower frame will be a modified P2K SD9 walkway. Drive and trucks are still in the thought process, possibly a Hollywood Foundry drive with heavily modified flexcoil trucks.

It would be nice to find a set of trucks from under and Australian 'Bulldog" F unit. I can't recall the manufacturer at the moment but the sideframes were really close to the NF210s.

How does the cab on one of these compare to a normal SW cab in size?

I am plan on starting an HO scale NF210 build myself using an SD9 as a starting point with Chris Mears NF210 cab from Shapeways. I will try and figure out a way to shorten the frame and keep it powered with the SD9 internals. I will keep the trucks standard gauge for the time being until I am comfortable tearing apart and re-gauge the gear boxes, I am not too concerned about the trucks appearance as the shirt will be hiding most of them anyway.

You should go S scale on HO track (Sn3.5) This matches the 3' 6" narrow gauge used on Newfoundland perfectly, while allowing you to model in a scale that you don't need a massive space for with tons of commercially available track options. As an added bonus, details and scenery show up so much better in larger scales. There's a guy over on Canadian Railway Modelers who models Newfoundland in Sn3.5 although I'm not sure what he was using for power. As an aside, Chris Mears, myself and another friend of ours that lives near us were talking about doing a set of Sn3.5 modules following the Newfoundland Railway and taking them to the Narrow Gauge convention in Augusta next year.

I was thinking of converting it to run on TT scale or HOm track. I wanted to keep it HO so I can use off the shelf HO rolling stock with the intention down the road of making a module of the dual gauge yard at Port aux Basques, which will also allow me to run my RSC14 1766, one of a few MLW units that made it to NFLD when the normal SW1200RS units were away for servicing.

The trucks might be a little tricky, there aren't any TT scale trucks that would match that HO scale spacing. You could use a TT scale GP 9' truck (that comes out within 3/4 of an inch of the 6'7" between two axles), then add a dummy axle for either the inboard or outboard axles? If you could find the sideframes it looks do-able!
