Interesting idea with your numberboards Dan, I like the idea of making them look like glass. I managed to put in another evening at the workbench and the geep is another step closer to being completed. Nothing like a looming deadline to get you motivated. Tonight I weathered the shell and chassis, using drybrushing techniques, aiming to make it a suitably grungy for that true Rock Island feel. The effect turned out pretty well, although I probably went a bit heavier than I was intending to - although that is pretty much true to the protorype for a Rock unit! Next comes the final detailing, painting mu hoses etc, and then final assembly. Should all be done this week and then I just need to fill out the contest paperwork and its ready for the convention.

Thanks John,
The great thing about using the epoxy-paper method is you can do a whole sheet of stuff for pennies.
It also works for lighted store signs etc.
I used it to change the name plates on a Hornby "Mallard" I gave to a friend for his birthday.
It took a while for him to notice they weren't the originals, (his name is one letter different).
