My boys (and my wife) got me one of those mini key fob cameras for fathers day. It is a pretty cool little gadget! It even shoots in HD. Here's a cab ride vid I shot with it. The video shows a few of the locomotives that I've shown on this site before.
(I apologize for the quicker than normal speeds in some spots and lack of backs to the large grain elevators!):
Thank you for watching!

Hi Sammy,
I like it a lot! How big is the camera? Did you push it around on a flat?

Pretty cool stuff!!
It just slipped into the gondola, no tape necessary. I like it a lot!
Thanks for sharing, Sammy.

If it would work, it would be sweet if you could do a "night" version!!

Rob,
Believe it or not, doing a night run is on my list of things to do. I've made a few test runs and it seems to work pretty well, it does get a little grainy in spots but it's still pretty cool. Maybe this weekend, I can make it work out how I'm envisioning it in my head.
Since it'll be dark, maybe I can have the camera train meet the run through BN coal train...... :-)

Since it'll be dark, maybe I can have the camera train meet the run through BN coal train...... :-) You might want to run a small LED with a frosted dark blue gel diffuser behind the camera - the camera is adding electronic gain to the dark areas to compensate for the low light of its maximum exposure. If anything, the LED lamp should keep everything uniformly lit in the dark areas (thereby circumventing the gain), and the frosted blue gel will diffuse the light and create the proper nighttime atmosphere. If it comes out too bright, you can always pull down the lighting in an editing suite. -Kurt

Did I see a SF30C? I thought there was one on one of the other trains.
