holy moly! That is gonna be one sweet piece when it's done! I'm assuming with all the excellent work you're putting into this you will modify the small aspects of the step well to match the pictures, right? -that cab is sick! You bet! The plan is to replace the stock Atlas steps with brass A-Line steps, notch the pilot to match the prototype, add the pilot bracing, and then build the coupler draft gear box. Thanks! -Colin

you have a part number for that keystone loco works speedometer? The speedometer came as part of the "HO-3305 EMD 2nd Generation GP & SD Cab Interior (38-2, 40-2, 35, 40, 50)" kit. -Colin

Hey Colin,
I just happened to stop by this thread again and I noticed that you like doing detail work on the framerail details like me. If you also want to add that pipe that's located right behind the step well (toilet drain pipe) I use a part from Percision Scale Co. Inc. that looks very much like that. -Brian Banna turned me onto this part.
There is no name on the package but the part number is 48434 and there's 12 in a pack.
Again, this looks great and the detail on the cab inteirior is looking good.

I was planning on adding the toilet drain pipe but wasn't 100% sure how to go about modeling it until now! I am in the process of tracking a package of the unions down as we speak. Thanks again for the fantastic idea and the kind words! -Colin

Any progress on the interior? While waiting on some parts to fully finish the cab interior, I have moved on to the cab exterior and nose. The first step was filling the class lights on this ex-PC unit. I believe the prototype had this body work done when she was repainted for the IAIS in 2004. Not having access to a full backshop, I relied on Squadron putty and wet-sanding. I decided to try using BLMA grabs for the first time and really like the way they look. Up on the roof and number boards I added a Sinclair antenna from Railflyer, a BLMA grab with Detail Associates NBW castings, an antenna made from styrene rod, and a Detail Associates Pyle headlight. Sunshades from A-Line round out the cab's exterior details. Windshield wipers, cab steps and an open door still to come!

Wow. Looks great! This is exactly what I need to finish off my cab interior for an N Scale model that we will be announcing here at CESM soon. I look forward to updates!

Love it! At Northtown Yard we have three former IAIS GP38-2's now lettered for PRLX, and that jump seat is the real deal! And it gives me a good excuse to kick the helper to the second engine. Only difference is that BNSF put refrigerators in them, whereas you're modeling them with the ice box as appropriate. Very cool.
