Robert, what an awesome idea! Can you imagine, no more lost freight in some of those long tunnels on club layouts! Runaways could be tracked so as not to cause a disaster, like what happened in Canada, freight could be tracked, insuring prompt delivery, management of my road would be elated at prospect of tracking all locos and rolling stock, of course we just need to encourage Garmin to down size their GPS system to HO scale! Excellant Idea! LoL! Oorrrrr, how about a LPS (Layout position system), instead of GPS, my whole world/globe extends only to the edges of the layout, don't need to know what's beyond that! LoL!

Use Detail Associates 1024 for the headlight on the numberboards. It's basically the same headlight you get in Cannon long hood end kits but with visors.

Yeah we need a "find my locomotive" on our iPhones lol. Hahaha, that would convince me to get an iPhone. (still stuck with an old-keypad phone) Rch, now to find a place that has one in stock, or one on ebay that doesn't have a 200%+ mark-up on it (cheapest one I found was 2.25, but the picture clearly shows a 1.00 price tag on it) This is probably gonna be my 1st finished project, and it's not even my chosen road (is that bad?). Just the headlight replacement, some-touch-up paint, and replace the plow (Factory one was busted, I have a correct DW one)

If there are any train shows in your area, they are usually a good opportunity to pick up a variety of parts at a good price. A couple years ago I went to one expecting to leave with a couple freight cars or a locomotive and ended up hitting the jackpot when I found a dealer unloading hundreds of parts for pennies on the dollar.
And I've also paid those big ebay markups, too. Win some, lose some.

You might find that the part you are referring to as being marked up so drastically is now MSRP at an even higher amount, so to the dealer you are getting a deal over the current price, even though they are giving out old stock.
