Thank you. I have been meaning to build several of these for quite a while and finally decided that it was time. I studied what others had done for their NS C40-9s and started from there. Some if the info I used, some of it I tried other things. Overall, I'm very happy with how this one (it's twin is a day or so behind on the build) turned out. I am eagerly awaiting the final product. This one is getting a white "unibrow" so it will be drying for a few days (painted the white this morning) so I can mask and paint the body black.

Thanks icghogger. And keiffer, sorry for the delay in responding. The plow used is a Details West 233 (part # PL-233) with some slight modifications. The plows on most recent NS locos are only as wide as the pilot, so I trim the sides of the plow off. I don't employ an exact science. I just put the plow up against the pilot, score a line with a hobby knife and trim the excess off with a Dremel.

And # 1 of 2 is out of the paint shop and ready for decals. What's funny is that I chose the 8853 for this -9 because I found a pile of pictures on various websites (but specifically rrpicturearchives.net) of all angles, so it made it easy to model. Upon reviewing other -9 posts on the site, I noticed that someone had already built the 8853. I guess 8853 is on it's way to be the most modeled -9 standard cab in the NS fleet

And 8853 and it's twin, side by side. The less than near completed undec. -9 will be in the older, non-horsehead scheme with a white sill stripe.

Always loved Top Hats, bit modern for me now but I have most of the spare parts I need to build one should I ever acquire a C44-9W to use... Great work, looking forward to seeing these finished!

Hey ladderpipe your going to have to go to photobucket and get u a free account. By putting the photos as attachments it uses alot of space, to keep the site free we need to save as much space as possible for the words.
Noone can attach pictures directly anymore. Besides using the photobucket account you can post pictures on any forum. A bunch of us use photobucket so if you need any more help with it please ask and we will try and walk you through it.
When you post pictures off photobucket the photo is also large so others dont have to click on it to see a close up of it.

Ladderpipe, if you are willing to pay proboards $120.00 a year you can attach all the photos you want. It's easier to use photobucket. There is a link at the top of the forum about how to post photos with clear instructions.

Lets see if this works. I think I have this photobucket thing figured out. If I do, you should be looking at the latest progress I made over the last few days with 1 of the -9s.

At Photobucket, you have to use the URL from the place where it says DIRECT LINK. Then you place the URL between the brackets here either manually with your keyboard, or by using the image link. I don't use the image link, I just post the brackets.
