Yes I have seen her work and she is one of the finest modelers around. Her work is by far historical.

She uses the PIA (now PSC) stantions. If I'm not mistaken, so does Dave Hussey. I find absolutely nothing wrong with their handrails, and they're head and shoulders above the other PSC handrail stantions, as well as any other, save Utah Pacific for GE models. Now, if we could get a good Alco stantion...

I had some of those and in my opinion they are crap. Still need a lot of cleanup. Way to thick.

You might have got a bad batch. FWIW, Gordon Cannon did the masters for PIA. He also did the GSB SD40-2.
So what does Chris Z. use? I'm always interested if there's something better.

Wish Athearn release a CSX GP39-2 and a GP38-2 locomotive because I´m modeling a South Florida CSX local train and need GPs.

Where did Athearn announce a GP39-2 ? All I saw was a whole new Locomotive at the National Train Show in Atlanta.

Although I see that this thread has shifted towards handrails, something that we all have mixed feelings on, I do remember what an Athearn exec told me when the Genesis GP38-2 came out. That is this new line of geeps is designed to be modular since 38-60 share some similar features eventually they will all be made. I asked specifically about the GP50 and it came out the next year.

Cutting down the Atlas frame is 2-fold. You don't need to take that much off, but since I do it all by eye, I don't have a real measurement. A guess would be 3/8" at most. The second thing you'll need to do is modify the fuel tank. It'll all be pretty self explanatory once you have the model apart. I noticed a similar fuel tank issue with P2k GP38-2s, there is a gap left in the fuel tank after you cut away excess (bogus) frame.

I sure hope it's not, would rather see a SDP45!
