Trainmaster,
For a first major build, you should be very pleased with the results. I would gather you learned a few things that you can apply to your next build and from there it only gets better.
I really enjoy seeing freelanced railroads come to life. They look OK on paper, but when you actually build them they really look good. Keep this one in front of you as you build your next one. It will be your inspiration to keep up the good work and move forward.
So what is your next project?

Thanks again for the kind words fellas.
Brian, I have currently another undecorated athearn RTR SD40-2, and an undecorated athearn genesis SD70ACe on the bench. The SD40-2 will become SD40-3 # 6301 and the SD70ACe will become # 6400. I am also currently looking for donor units to make my first GP40-3 / RP4 mother slug set.
I learned so much building this unit and it will help significantly with the engines in the future. I have built an extensive fleet of CP GE's but never gone all out on an EMD like I did with this SD40-3. So this unit not only was my first engine painted for my railroad but it was also a huge education to build as well.
I have done several NYAS railcars but by building this locomotive my railroad finally came to life and that was a real treat.
