A while ago i bought alive steam model of a B&O grasshopper. I'm going to start screwing with it to see if i can make it more efficient, and more to scale. Right now it runs for just under 5min with about half a thimble of water and a full tank of alcohol. Some of the ways I think I will improve the locomotive's performance is right now it has what appears to be a nylon wick. and the wick is letting a little to much fuel in to the burner area causing a lot the fire and heat to escape out the sides of the locomotive. Another way I think i can improve the performance is there's currently no combustion chamber. (firebox) it's just a tube with a wick in it under a copper piece of tube. If i make a firebox for the locomotive it should focus more of the heat up the stack and in to the boiler. I'll see if i can get a video up of it at some point in time.

I'll be taking it to work again soon that's when i get the chance to play with it. (Everyone at work is a pyro so even my boss doesn't mind taking an extended break when it's around)
that's the video that the manufacture put out of it running.
