I absolutely love Cannon Cabs but it seems the more I use them the more issues I have with the stupid windows. I'm not knocking the product believe me I know the issue is with me. Are there any secrets to installing these? I've tried Elmers with no luck, Testors with no luck, and clear nail polish with little success. I just purchased some Formula 560 and so far I'm not impressed. Any hints would be great. I have so many cabs that need new windows.

Are you having problems installing them or holding them in place once they are installed? If its the latter, I use Krystal Klear made by Micro scale. It's nice because it dries clear and doesn't craze the plastic like glue does. if you use it sparingly, you won't even tell its there once it has dried.

You might also try Gator Glue; not only dries clear it is very strong and just the ticket to install PE parts also.

Also, any stray Krystal Klear can be scraped off with a toothpick after it dries. Used KK to install tinted acrylic windows in a brass passenger car for a project I was helping with. That stuff worked great.

To install windows into the Cannon cab, first paint the frames aluminum and allow to dry. Next, cut the windows from the clear sheet and place into the window frame. Now, using a 10/0 brush, brush on a very thin bead of Future Floor wax around the four sides. Set aside to dry completely. Now install the window frames into the slots in the Cannon cab, position to your liking and then add a very small (drop) of lacquer thinner to the top and bottom of the window frame. Set aside to dry. You should be good to go! Bob

Someone once told me that they used those little glass squares that they use on microscope slides. its glass so you can scrape off any glue without issue. you can also score and snap a perfect edge. I've been meaning to try it, but have never seen any to buy...

Word of advice....Use thick latex gloves to handle the glass and put on your eye protection!
Lay the cover glass on a hard surface, do not use a cutting mat. Let the diamond scribe "scratch" the glass (do not press down hard when scribing, let the tool do the work). Pick up the cover glass, flex it between your fingers and the glass will snap apart at the scribe line. For small pieces, the glass can be handled and snapped apart with a pair of tweezers. I use a vacuum pen to handle the glass when placing in a frame. Bob Harpe's trick with the Future Floor Polish works good with glass, too!
