Hi All,
Here are another two projects I have been working on. A die-hard ALCo-holic, the Ontario Southland Railway MLW's are a personal facourite of mine.
The first is OSR 180, an ex-CP RS18u. The real engine is out of service at their Guelph Jct shop with a broken crankshaft, but their other two ex-CP RS18's are in service (one at Guelph Jct, and the other at Salford). The model started out as a project I bought at a recent train show; beginning with an Atlas RS-11, someone cast a resin RS18 shell, high-nose as originally built (no idea who made it, any ideas?) I cut off the high nose and cab and replaced it with a Prototype Model Industries RS18u cab. I also redid the steps, and painted the frame black. I began by painting it maroon, but realized that masking off the cream would be easier. So on went the cream (polly scale TH&B cream, and TLT CP maroon). unfortunately, some of the cream paint cracked on the nose, so I'm going to have to go back and repaint the cab. The current fuel tank isn't correct for CP units, so I'll have to replace it (does anyone know if Atlas makes the narrow tank, and if so, the part #? )
The RS23 will be #504, one of several ex-CP RS23's in operation at Guelph Jct. The kit is an older AMM production, and a rather crude one at that. Both sides of the hood have significant bows to them, something I'm hoping I can straighten out. Again, Polly Scale and TLT paints were used, but I'll have to do a little touch-up of the maroon where the cream ran under the masking tape. The unit is currently unpowered, but I have a spare Atlas motor I'm going to see if I can shoehorn into the engine. I have a second AMM kit that I will do for one of their S-13's, once I get a couple of current projects wrapped up.
Anyway, hope you like the photos:
Thanks for looking,
Cheers,
Peter.
