Another Layout Design and operations meet is in the books. This happened in Tulsa, OK during the weekend of 3-23 thru 3-25. Several presenters put on some informative clinics but best of all, 10 of the area layouts hosted sessions so a lot of freight was moved. Best news of all is that for my op session on Sat night, 5 members of the Diesel Detailer forum were present. Here’s proof with 3 of the guys in the same frame, and all seem to be having a swell time! Check here for more pics – most recent ones are at the bottom of the page. www.pbase.com/sammy1974/op_sessions&page=3

Yep, I know I sure had a good time hosting. My fav part of the hobby is opening my layout for folks to come run on. I had great sessions on Sat and Sun both. The one on Sat night was really a lot of fun since Glenn, Mike, Wayne and Paul were in attendance. I'm still cleaning Glenn's drool off of the BN motors that pull the coal train.

Yep! We had to put a bag over Hoover's head so he wouldn't hyperventilate! Paul just wanted to open the door and windows to let out the incredible odor in the BN motors.... Seriously, Sammy is a super host and his wife makes KILLER chocolate chip cookies! His Hereford Sub is nothing but 1st class ATSF all the way! I've had Sammy up to visit and we operated my ATSF Albuquerque Sub and Jeff Needham's ATSF Santa Fe Northern one afternoon and that evening. We then went to the ATSF Mini-Meet in Mission Ks the next morning. Very cool weekend.

Mike, I'm not sure if that silly BN crew ever figured out exactly where that odor was coming from..... In fact, said "odor" started before the BN train ever left staging yard. Paul caught a whiff of it on their first train past the feed lot. coincidence? I think not........... ;D Here's another good pic I took - of Santa Fe Mikie "guarding" the first batch of cookies.

Hey everyone! I just want to say that I had a hell of a good time as evidenced by all of the pics of me. Mike was very protective of those cookies as I recall only having 2 of them. I am looking forward to more of these operating sessions. Thank you very much Sammy!!
