Ermmm. I do not do the technology thing. To me it's "White Man's Magic" However a couple of photos to share. If they are of any interest. If I am in the right place. I took the photos taken June 2011 at Kamloops AB and Didsbury AB I thought they may be of interest because- Kamloops has a recently repainted CP SD40-2 No 5824 At Didsbury two GP 9s one with StH&L branding and the other CP, with a "Beaver". The last two look pretty battered so may be useful for those who wish to weather and "knock 'em about a bit" Now the hard bit. I have put the links below but it is a mystery to me whether they will work as links. If they do not, just code and copy into your address bar and they should come up. If not they can be found on the RMweb.co.uk site under the title "overseas prototype" Sorry if it's a bit of a half wit message or if I am in the wrong place. It's my hapless way of trying to say thanks and give something back for the help I have recieved from this forum in other threads. Great photos, Armchair.
It's interesting that CP 5824 has the double rear vertical headlight (to my knowledge, the only SD's that had this were the original 5500-series SD40's) as well as the rear rock plow/pilot. I've seen a number with a rear snow plow, but not the CP-style round pilot.
Love those GP9 shots - a good example of the pitfalls of the earlier waterbase paints on STLH 8245. I have photos of it working here in London, ON, last year - seems to have wandered a bit! Also like that CP 8218 - I haven't seen any of the 'golden rodent' geeps out here - they seem to stay out west.
Thanks for sharing, Cheers, Peter.
