Hey Guys... Got my Bowser C630M finally...damn, it's pretty nice! I haven't run it yet, but the model is well detailed and painted. Some cons I've found, 2026 doesn't have dyn brakes, the model does, CN units have 2 class lites per side, not 3, the roof curvature is a bit off, but this is a Stewart problem perpetuated that was never corrected, but it's not worth a cab swap...or is it... It had proper plow and pilots (yay! ) I think this is a first for a CDN prototype! Lettering is crisp and proper, even the proper "2" font on the number, which Microscale even screwed up. (Accucals got it right tho) Its going in the case as is, too nice to touch for now. In the future, it may get a cab swap (I made a master of a C630 cab and had copies made in resin) and renumber, removal of the dynamic brakes, MBE ditch lights added, and respray CN grey over the grillework stripes, but for now its cool to admire it... ;D

I have 3 of the BC Rail C630M's ordered. I can't wait to see them.
The locomotives look good. Did yours have sound?

Sean, you might want to offer those cabs here...I had to modify a 628 cab for my C430 project.

Nope, $159 no sound Sean, you might want to offer those cabs here...I had to modify a 628 cab for my C430 project. I may. I have 2 left from the first pour. My resin caster is losing his eyesight to a tumour so i don't want to push him for more. CP 4507 was my first attempt, an Atlas 424 cab with styrene added to the corners. 2003 and 5212 have resin cabs made from a master that used the back corners of one 424 cab grafted onto the front of another.

Well, the roof contours may be slightly off, but I just got my 2 CN C630Ms and they may be my favourite locos!! They are a fine replica of a unique Canadian model and they run super smooth - almost as good as an Atlas. I may have to get 2 more.....

Oh I agree, I'm not fragging their efforts, like I did for the P1K RS18 or the IMRC SD40-2w cab. It is a good effort that I'm not in a hurry to alter the cab on...

Oh, curiosity got the best of me... I took the body off to see if it shared the same chassis as the trimount C630s (it does bTW) and hack-n-slash before I know it the cab is severed and the hybrid atlas cab is mounted... I found out another problem with the Bowser, the nose is 6-8" too low. The CN nose is riding up out of its groove in the deck to look proper with the Atlas cab...stay tuned!

Update:
Got the new cab airbrake equip. doors installed, 010 styrene with wire closures, styrene hinges. The engineer side extends below the sill, a bit of a trick to do and still keep the cab removeable...
The nose needs 030" shims underneath it to match the Atlas cab, and you have to remove the hatch on the eng side of the nose, and the louver on the conductor's side. You can carefully remove the headlight and set aside. I also reamed out the light holes so you don't see orange in the headlight lense anymore.
I've also decided to make 2020, so I filed off the dynamic brake details, and removed the intakes from a Tyco C630 to cover (yes cover) the 4 square intake to backdate the loco to 1982.
I will upload pics in the next couple days.

Update: toilet hatch on nose removed, air brake doors added to sides of cab. Some small tweaks and she's ready for paint. Also shaved off the dynamic brakes...

Sean, I have not been getting on the boards here as much as I used to. Just too-oooooooooooo many other things going on LOL. I am very impressed with the work you are doing on her! She is looking great!
If I may however, I would like to ask you a small favor since you have the loco "torn apart". Could you give me some info on the trucks please. I am in the process of building a CM40-8 for a friend of mine, and need Dofasco trucks for it. Would the trucks from these units fit under an Atlas C40-8 frame? Or if by some stroke of luck, do you have an atlas C40-8 you could try it on?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot bud, and keep up the great work!!!

Unfortunately I don't have an Atlas C40-8, nor has one ever crossed my desk. too new for my 1983 era.
Once the fuel tank skin is removed from the chassis on the 630, the sides of the fuel tank are flat. You could cut the 630 chassis, add the extra 24" and shore up the sides of the tank with epoxy and brass stock to fuse the chassis back together....just a sug.
I imagine the more fringe paint scheme'd C630Ms (A&M, WNYP etc) will come down in price so you can get your chassis.

Thanks Sean, I had actually already contacted Bowser about just purchasing the trucks. The guy I spoke with was really nice, but was unable to help me. He said there would not be any "Spare parts" available until at least the second run of these units. Oh well. LOL
Thanks anyhow, I will look into the possibility of using the whole chassis, and see how that would go over with the way I am actually constructing the body of the CM40....

Orange painted. MUCH happier with this cab's roofline Just realise I have 5 C424s and this 630 (and a spare cab) and no cab glazing for any of them! (630s need 2 sets) so I need to order some from Atlas!

Ordered 10 sets of glass from Atlas, that should do it. I figure now that I've bought them, I'll find the box with the ones I was looking for. I need to follow Eric A's lead, plastic drawers, and tool boxes for storage...

Update! Paint done, decals done...much better! SOOOOOOOOO happy with a proper shaped cab. Not sure I can stomach not having a Bowser without the cab swap. I originally could live with it, but that lasted about 2 days... All I need is the window glass I ordered from Atlas to show, then install the small handrails, grab irons, headlight casting, #board decals, rerailers, dullcote then weather...

Wouldn't it be nice if we had a Cannon quality cab for our ALCO Centuries?
