I think the Southern is one of the classiest paint schemes of all time. I can agree with that. I really like the E-units

Well, the best high hoods are NS, but since that isn't an option, the N&W units are better because they have the king of all horns, the Leslie RS-5T-F as well as all weather windows. Christian

I like the Southern scheme but always thought the high short hood looked funny without the bell. Only a few SRR units had the bell on the short end.

Matt, you're right, the best road isn't an option. Norfolk Southern has the best looking high hoods! LOL Christian

The tuxedos are by far the best but the N&W SD40-2s were pretty cool as well with their triple-clasp trucks.

The only thing is trying to reproduce those darn trucks.

The trucks just got easier with the arrival of the Kato SD38-2. All my N&W SD40-2s are going to start with the SD38-2 chassis with SD40-2 shells. That's how Bob built the 1626 that in the logo.

Also, for the purpose of modeling... it's SO much easier to dip an engine in either black or blue and slap some N&W decals on it than try to do the SOU striping. Although I have to admit, I am partial to a nicely done SOU model.

In the end, it all depends on what part of the country you like. In my case, I was surrounded by N&W living on the shore of Lake Erie. Quote: "to thine own self be true".....

Southern all the way with its Classy Tuxedo and Gold lettering no thinking about it I love the N&W also but you cant get any simpler paint scheme than N&W and as far as involving NS it is the best of both worlds!!!!!!oh yea!!!!!
