Post a photo of a diesel you started or built because you were inspired by somebody else. I had gotten away from diesels because I got burned out as a custom builder/painter in the 90s. I was inspired by work I saw in the web by Andy Harman, Bob Harpe, Brian Banna, and Elizabeth Allen. I got back into the hobby in 2007. Here's what my Norfolk & Western SD40-2 looked like before I painted it. Before I knew it, I had built an Athearn SD-40 also. Here's a photo of the pair.

Fred, very nice models. Good work.
How did you make the windows of 5503 and what glue have you used ?
I am working on Kaslow resin D-9 canadian cabs and the plastic windows I made won't hold.
How did you do it to permanently secure plastic to painted resin ?

Thanks Fred And I meant to ask the other night, but I was cutting into 'sleep time'...... Can you give us a 'run-down' on how you did your "Draper taper"? I'd love to give it a go, unless you honestly think I'd be better off buying a Kaslo shell. It would seem that it'd be easier to start with a cowl unit and go from there if I was to kitbash, right? But the question is, what shell would be the best donor for an SD40-2? Also, I can pick up the Canadian Cab at my LHS.........they've had them sitting there whispering sweet nothings every time I walk by..... I've always liked the way they looked, and there is documented(photograhic) evidence of them in CO, so I could technically have one on my roster. Rick
