I´ve starded a similar project but a Heritage I C44-9W BNSF from a kato UP model. The cabin should be modified too. That's a good challenge and I can't wait to see your progress.

Cheers for the pics Rick. I've been without a computer for quite a while, but thankfully I'm back online now I've made a fair bit of progress since last posting. The shell got stripped of paint, the trucks are now detailed and the vents have been moulded off of a Kato AC4400CW. I also managed to take a mold of a gullwing cab to use too I now have full use of my arms (thank god!) so hopefully I'll get it finished when time permits.

Hey man, I just thought I would throw in my two cents about stripping kato units. I just stripped kato #9726 in order to paint ns colors. I started with ELO, garbage. Then let soak for 2 days in 91% alcohol. These didn't work, was wayyyy too much work. I read a forum about using brake fluid. I was very skeptical. Since our brake lines are made up of plastic and rubber parts it kinda made sense. It worked phenomenal! Dollar store brake fluid, and its water soluble. Try it man. It works. It will weaken small plastic pieces, but u just have to be careful to not squeeze the model like a f**kin gorilla. Either then that, it was a blessing.. Just my 2 cents.
