In addition to my Penn Lake RS3s, I have been working on an S2: Like all my Penn Lake units, S2 3040 has the standard Reading details, like the firecracker antenna, and rain gutters. While the RS3s are painted in Delaware & Hudson's black and yellow scheme, PL's S2s use John Deere green in place of the black. Nick

And after adding a decoder, Penn Lake S2 3040 is complete: Even though, on Reading units, the bell was painted the same color as the frame, I paint my bells brass, because I wanted them to stand out. Nick

That's actually very close to the paint scheme that my proto-freelanced railroad was going to use. Looks good!

Thanks. In case you are wondering, I used Highball Decals set L-134 for the end stripes, cab number boxes, and radio decals.

I added a former Lehigh & New England S2 to Penn Lake's roster: Again, I started with an undec Atlas S2. After applying Microscale decals, I faded out the L&NE lettering with thin white paint, and applied my Penn Lake decals over them. Nick

Well after sitting untouched for nearly a year, I returned to my ex-LNE S2. I finally did the DCC conversion and installed a horn, radio antenna and bell. I also added sill striping. The sill decal still needs more Solveset, and I still need to do the hand rails. Nick

Thats very nice. I always liked those switchers by ALCO. Your scheme reminds me of the NEB&W.
