Well I finally took everyones advice and bought some polly scale elo. Now my question is what is the easiest way to get the locomotive covered with only 8 ounces? Ive never used it so any advice would be appreciated.

Daniel, First remove anything you don't want affected like clear parts etc.. then, over a large plastic container wearing gloves and eye protection, get yourself the following. An old ( or new ) toothbrush An old or new sponge brush like they sell at home depot or even Wall mart for 10 Cents each. Eye protection ( safety glasses ) Rubber gloves would be a good idea too.. When you're ready, dip your brush into the ELO and spread it in a thick layer over the shell. TEST it out on a painted surface INSIDE the shell first if possible to make sure it's not going to damage the plastic, if it does for some reason( and Ive never had it do anything to a shell) it's on the INSIDE and you wont see it and you can go to plan B . I usually work a section at a time until I'm down to bare plastic. When you have all your paint removed, wash your shell off in warm soapy water and rinse it off. DO NOT throw out the remaining ELO in the plastic container! Pour it back into its container and you can re-use it over and over. I have a can that's over 10 years old I still use like its new. I strain the paint particles and debris that comes off the shells and pour the rest back in the can. Hope this helps,
Paul

Although I have not used ELO, I am sure my container would work as well. I place the shell in a one gallon Freezer ziploc bag and pour stripper in bag and onto shell (this of course after you have determined that stripper will not harm plastic). I use alcohol and I double the bags, I have a plastic shoe box (around $1, anywhere) that I place the bags in and wait. I will someday meet the shell that needs ELO, but so far I have been lucky.

I would avoid immersing the shell in ELO. It has a tendency to leave some plastic shell brittle. Just like SP_Modeler says, spread a little bit of stripper on and let it do it's thing.
