BNFE Reefers

While waiting for some pesky parts to come in I decided to finish off some rolling stock. I finished a few of them a while back and just completed the rest. All are Athearn 57 ft reefers. I've found that I should have used a couple Con-cor cars but that will have to be our secret. The yellow car is factory painted with wheel sets and couplers, the rest got paint, decals, wheels and couplers.











This next group was inspired by MRLfan Glen who said he liked an LMX paired with a BN B30-7A. So here they are:

Yes they are HO. I'll keep you in mind if I start thinning the herd.

I don't know all the "whys" to the various paint schemes but going by the dates provided on the decal sets I have an approximate "when".

WFCX 9345 is dated 1971 and the yellow paint is a carryover from GN's Western Friut Express.

BNFE 3 is dated 1984.

BNFE 19336 and 751044 (cryogenic car) are dated 1986.

The last four cars are 1987. I don't know the story on the "off" green cars but they just called out to be modeled.

Anyone got any info on the Temp-Lok or the cryogenic car? I know the BN tried some inovation on all their stuff. Is there a story behind these?

Lastly, are those Microscale decals or factory painted said cars?

Regarding the decals; The yellow car came that way from Athearn, the white car with the BN herald, the Temp-lok & Cryogenic cars are Micro Scale 87-576 and the dark green car is Micro Scale MC 4106. The two "off" green cars came from various sets. The white Western Fruit Express car is a set a friend of mine had made up.
Bad news though, I checked the Micro Scale web site a bit ago and they don't show either set in production or in stock.

Yeah Microscale sadly decided to "clean house" sometime ago and discount a bunch of BN stuff I was lucky enough to get some of the sets that are now discontinued.
