A very believable proto-freelance...well done! The "ultra-high" cab thing is really neat--and Kenicott Copper had a fleet of them... SO, got any "shovelnose" GE's? that you interchange with the WP&Y? I'd love to see more layout pics too!

Thanks Again
With the shovel nose WP&Y units being narrow gauge I have not figured out how to build a dual gauge unit that isnt to heavy for the narrow gauge bridges:)

Its modern times my friend, fabricated bogies weigh less than cast bogies. Carbon fiber and aluminium can be used for body panels and a truss frame will save weight over a box frame.

The Alaska Rail Link is my road that conects Fort Nelson, Canada with Fairbanks, Alaska creating a true trans continental railroad. Along the route at Delta Junction we inner tie with the Copper River and North Western. wow, cool stuff mate, I have had a similar idea in N scale, my freelanced railroad is called Yukon Territory Rail Road or short YT Rail. I did as well create my own paint sheme, with an old and a modern logo. I hope it's ok if I show some pictures as well (no intention to high jack your thread - just informative) EMD SD40-2 (old logo) EMD SD40-2 snoot (new logo) EMD SD40-2 (remote engine) GE C44-9W (ex SP renamed) EMD SD80MAC (ex Conrail patch job) EMD SD70MAC (new !) cheers...

Steve4,
CEO, Yukon Territory Railroad
Dear Steve4,
I have been authorized by Mr. Shane Durand, CEO and Empire Builder of the Alaska Rail Link, to contact you regarding the possibility of interline track rights and cooperative power sharing. The fact your equipment is N scale and the ARL power is all HO scale is easily overlooked.
We are particularly enamored of the "old" paint scheme with the winter quarter moon and the howling wolf. All ARL motive power units utilize Cat repower assemblies. Possibly we could arrange a power pool. With your permission and paint specifications an HO scale SD40-2 may be possible.
ARL runs through to our connection at Fort Nelson, completing the Northern Tier Transcontinental. On your system map, where would we be able to make interchange arrangements? What commodities would capitalize from our Westward extension?
It is advisable that we cooperate and cement operating agreements before the Alaska Railroad makes a competitive move with an Eastward expansion.
We look forward to hearing from you in the spirit of friendly competition and fruitful cooperation.
If you prefer secure communications use this address: sewtrain@mtaonline.net
Sincerely, PJD PIO ARL for SPD, CEO ARL

I have to say that I like both these railroads and I would combine the two logos for yours Steve. Colors on both roads are great and the assortment of power works well.
Fine job fellas!
Paulie
