"The IC units are the the only (I think) GP38AC's to be built in 1970" Actually, the DT&I had GP38AC's units #207-214. in 1970 with gong style bell in the nose, but they don't have dynamic brakes. Units 215-220, came in 1971, with the beaded blower buldge. These units can be distinguished by the large paper air filter box just behind the inertial air filter. My notes for modeling these: Atlas walkway with zig-zag pilot Units 207-214 have non-beaded blower, and lettering is not over the filter box Units 215-220 have beaded blower, and lettering is on the filter box Cannon "late 40 Series" item, or you can add the beads to the Atlas blower bulge using .010" wire. I did this, and they look fine, and I don't have to chop out that part. Handrail stanchions on the GP38AC long hood are spaced 48" apart, causing the first stanchion to be closer to the cab. Earlier GP38 phases, such as the Phase 2b2 that the Atlas model is based on, have the rear-most stanchions closer together. So, you have to make your own long hood handrails to get the right spacing, if you are going for accuracy.... Here is an old Atlas/Roco model fromt he 70's that I did a whole bunch of work on to make into a GP38AC (71 model) Regards,

Excellent build. Love your in depth photos of your Dyn Brake mod's. When i 1st looked at the D/B extended range door you've used i thought it might be a Plano detail part but as you pointed out it is indeed a Cannon part. Thanks so much Pete. Bordertown. Australia modeling Sou-L&N-ICG-SCL
