Looks great. Where did you get the DB door?

I used the Cannon & Co. #1806 - Extended Range Doors, but I had to trim them down a bit to fit the space. The D/B housing was built up using pieces from another part to get the extended range cabinet toward the rear of the housing. I used Mission Models panel scribers to create the gap between the air filter "dust pan" and made four lifting eyes from styrene for the air box cover. I think I have a better view I can add to the post.

I asked because the door looks like brass.

Yes, Randy, those doors are brass PE from Cannon&Co, their #1806.

Thanks for the information Robert, it's a nice looking project you have going so far. I've got two GP-38ACs and two GP-40s under construction now.

Yeah, same for me, Randy. Besides the #9516, I am working on another GP38AC, the #9510, using all Railflyer Model components. It will be painted in the ICG #1776 Bicentennial colors (lost a good friend in the crash of #1776 back in '75). I acquired a couple of GP40's to do as 3000-class ICRR locomotives, one in orange and white, the other in Green Diamond black. Still got an NW2 (Kato) and SW1 (Alco Models) and a GE 44-tonner (Keystone) to do. Those three will also get the Green Diamond black scheme. Several steam projects are also on the bench, but hey, this is a diesel forum, no need to bore anyone with details, eh?

I haven't made any recent photos, Scott. I have cut the nose off to fit a Cannon cab and low hood, but now I am beginning to think I should replace the base unit as well. The cab sits over the stock base OK, but I wanted to add cab details without further chopping. It is in the "rethink" phase at this point. Once I get past that, then I will shoot some more photos. Hopefully, I can get the plow fitted up by then as well.

Here are a couple of photos showing the test fit. The hood is tacked in place so I can match up the cab and car body later. Still have a little more to do, but the C&C short hood and cab are really worth the effort.

Robert, it is looking great, I remember seeing the ICG stuff in the 70's around New Orleans, you are doing great things, I need to get my home in order so I can start working on my stuff and include some photos.

Just curious, why did you opt out on the Cannon sub-base? Nice job of fitting to the Atlas base but as you noticed, it's a little shallow and the nose needs some shimming too... as you know with the Cannon base, everything fits like a glove. Andy Andy, after destroying a previous Atlas sill, I decided to go with the Atlas cab base, as is, for this build. I plan to use the C&C cab base on another project. I still have to fit the cab and carbody (the spacers for the cab are already fitted to the Atlas base), so it's back to the bench tonight!
