Beautiful paint job. How did you get the rubber gasket detail around the windows? Bob

Beautiful paint job. How did you get the rubber gasket detail around the windows? Bob I hand paited them with a 000 brush using with Polly Scale Engine Black. Since it is water based, after it dries the contours can be corrected with a toothpick to make straight lines making it easy to strip the line imperfections. For the square cab windows, I used silver decal stripes made from microscale decals that came from some ATSF silver stripes. Sometimes I use floquil old silver, but you need to work fast to obtain a flat surface.

What paint and color/formula did you use for the TP&W red-orange? Hi I used Floquil Amtrak Red since found that it was the closest color it could be used to match prototype. The primer used for the brass model was Floquil Zinc Chromated Primer, bake it for a few minutes, not to hot and let it dry for a week. For the Amtrak Red I added a few drops of High Gloss to have a good surface for decaling, a mix of 80% color and 20% high gloss. Then was thinned 75% color (with High Gloss added) 25% Dio Sol (yes, I have some bottles there ;D), bake it, be patient and let it dry for a complete week to let all the fumes go away and let the paint "cure". After the decals were applied, handrails, hoses, window gaskets, etc. were painted, dullcote/glosscote was airbrushed, three very thin layers, enough to hide decal borders and give a semi-flat finish.
