And need to decide about the air conditioner C... DW or DA? Which one will you choose? Which one actually matches the prototype?

Both are vapor type but think is matter of personal preference then, some pics of the prototype

Neither one of them look exactly right, but the one on the right (DA?) seems to be the closest to the real thing.

Yeah it looks like a hybrid of both, the grille section from the DW, box end from the DA. The bolt flange looks better on the DA

You are right, Sean, the size of the flange is what did it for me.

Great! you´re doin´ a nice work on it!!! Every time I have to bend wire for brake lines I become angry or impatient... and have to bend at least 3 or 4 more, because never did the correct ones at one time, I tried to draw a pattern but didn`t work... what did you use?

I use DA .012" brass wire, have made a wood template to be sure all lines have the same dimensions. The holes are for insert drills to make the curves with the same radius.

Made some progess up to date. Handrails almost done, I used guitar stainless steel string that is aprox .014" scale diameter. It wasn´t easy to make all bends but a lot more stronger than brass wire. There are 9 different kinds of stanchions to complete handrails.

Kiro,
could you list the stanchions you used. I have two of these I am going to be doing for my shoreline.

Smokey Valley is what I used, got them from different sets. For example, front and rear anticlimber stanchions are from a GP40 Bachman set and GP15-1 SV set, left and right side long hood stanchions are from a SD40T-2 set or you can use any set for SD40-2 or any other 2nd gen EMD, just be sure to get the enough long and short stanchions. The stanchions for both front and rear corners were filled with epoxy putty to reproduce the straight plate.
I don´t like Athearn handrails because whatever you do the will look always plastic.

Outstanding work! Is that guitar stainless steel hard to paint? Do you use a specific primer?

Just sand it with fine grit to provide enough bed for paint but be sure to clean any oil from handling when doing bends. Had done many times before with excellent results.
