Ok here is the new paint scheme for the Royal Gorge & Southern, I would like everyones input on what they think about it before it gets stamped with Sarges seal of approval and becomes a reality.....................the lettering will be center on the long hood and the herold on the nose and cab side numbers..thinking black letters and herold still,or orange letters on the long hood and still black on the cab?

What would it look like if you got rid of the orange, brought the top color down to the bottom of the radiators, and then separated the two with a thin white stripe?

I don't like it. The orange isn't fitting in with the rest of the paint scheme. If this was mine I would make the orange the top part of the hood where the gray color is now. I would also bring the line down a little bit looks "odd" with the line so high.

Perhaps if its slanted (the orange) back at an angle. Or try Randy's idea. I see the 2 colors (orange and gray) as fighting each other, but thats just me.

I really dont think the orange and grey work togather either, but thats just my opinion. Keep in mind that orange would fade rather quickly, just look at all the Ill. Central stuff. Have you concidered yellow? P

Well what I was trying to come up with is something that is simple, different, simple, and including the colors of the RG&S...The only reason I don't like Randy's is it is to UP'ish to me....(remember I work for the UP and I can't stand there paint scheme anymore) and then you have the BN and someother short lines with that paint scheme (type) also...That was the idea behind that but thank you for everyones commits and I will tinker with it somemore...You have been honest and that is what I was looking for...........

You know I tried that with the orange on the rear and it really didn't look good at all so I am doing a handful more and then I will post back here is a couple of minutes....

Here's an idea. Keeps the orange too. I would think that bright red would look nice in place of the orange and I would paint the air tanks the same as the fuel tank. Bob

Randy is there not a shortline that uses that scheme? I can't remember......... Here are a couple more ideas I have just to play with............; Ok ,like I said this needs to be unique like noone else has ever done,a true individual railroad remember the name Royal Gorge & Southern, trying to stick with some Rio Grande feel (just a little though)

Anthony, the River Run's scheme is close, but has blue instead of orange. My son-in-laws Ohio & Chester Creek uses maroon instead of blue. I guess you could call it a family scheme?

I think we have a winner, the C&NW look-a-like is going to be the winner with Floquil Weathered Black and DRGW Orange for the body with black lettering and orange numbers on the cab sides. Now just to clairify that grey on the other engine is actually silver...
