Does anyone knows what is the most accurate brass version for stanchions on SW units (looking for a better option that the stock Alco Models ones for the QGRY 1500 project).
I have found this set online, but I have no idea if they are the same height and the most accurate:

The handrails are essentially the same as any other EMD 2nd generation hood unit. The ebay listing handrails don't look anything like that, so I would say they are incorrect.
There are some subtle differences between the switcher handrail stanchions and the road switcher stanchions. Mostly it's about the mounting bracket at the base, which way that faces, and whether the bottom of the stanchions extends vertically past the walkway surface. There may a difference in height as well, I'll have to check that.
Photos and height info to follow....

I should have looked at the picture of the Q&G unit first. It has a different type of stanchion than what I would expect to see on an sw1500. So I will have to reverse what I said before. These do not match the 2nd gen EMD stanchions (except for the last stanchion before the stepwell), and they do seem to match the PSC stanchions listed on ebay, at least in terms of top and bottom terminations.
The ebay listing doesn't include a part number. However, in the PSC HO diesel parts catalog, there is only one type of stanchion listed which would match the ebay offering. They list "handrail stanchions, early EMD", in three lengths. 7/16", 1/2", and 5/8", available in either plastic or brass. Based on a 37½" height from top of sill to center line of handrail, the 7/16" part is the only one suitable. The brass part number is #39069.
If you decide to go with more modern EMD stanchions, then we can talk about those options.

I was going to suggest KV Models stanchions but then I looked at the prototype as well.....
The front/rear end stanchions looks like the typical 2nd generation type at least, plus the first one at the stepwell corner.

I have found some stanchions in my brass parts drawer. Those are Precision Scale Models, but they are a bit longer (0.725" or so). I will see if I can kitbash them to shorter, rather that paying a premium shipping cost to Canada for a 12$ item. That would end up as 30$ shipping/customs included, 40$CDN with the poor currency exchange rate...
But thanks for the information. I found the 39069 online.

PC ordered those units with hood mounted handrails. After its Conrail career it acquired homemade sill mounted handrails. The stanchions are off the shelf dimensional steel and the railing was spliced into the factory corner railing. The bends at the cab are different than OEM too.
