Evening everyone! Work has been running me ragged but I'm working on some things! I was wondering (if this is the right area) does anyone know what would goes into to superdetailing a switch? As in making it a centerpiece for a display? www.haworthengineering.com/uploads/1/1/2/6/11264242/6445271_orig.jpgI saw a great inspiration piece (Above) at Haworth Engineering (he has a whole module building gallery spread over a few pages there too) For mine I'm (at the moment) starting with an Atlas #5 and do have some Detail west switch motors and switch heaters and joint bars which is a good start but wasnt sure what else might be out there too Thanks and hope everyone is well!

Consider the book Detailing Track by Mike Cougill, via OST Publications. www.ostpubs.com/ost-publications-bookstore/The content in the book is based on modeling track in O scale, actually in P48. But the information is actually scale independent, so it would apply to HO track work as well. I've got a copy, although I would need to dig it out of wherever it's currently hiding. If I can lay hands on it, I could give you a better idea of what to expect if you purchased the book. Jim

Wow! Thank you very much, but that appears to be a tremendous resource and not a publisher I was even aware of so double bonus. I'll definitely have to check them out.

Make sure you include a maintainer nearby, sitting in his truck reading the newspaper.

Rofl! Well the idea of the project is to have a well detailed diorama that is both a Test track and good for photos. As it just so happens there is a planned Maintenance road to display vehicles that will for sure have a maintainer present, to you know 'supervise' haha

I don't have a photo hosting site at the moment. So I took a couple of snaps from the book and put them in a dropbox folder, which can be found at the following link. It's not much, but it will hopefully give you at least a very cursory idea of what's behind the cover. www.dropbox.com/sh/d4l1rmjddru0edg/AADLu5y4_VAeWdbopn9MAxrFa?dl=0I do need to say, I'm a bit surprised that he's using a Caboose ground throw. There are other, more scale alternatives, although most of them are static or early prototypes. So it might be the best option for operations on a modern themed layout. I do some 3d cad, so I'm planning on working up drawings for a New Century throw with the EZ throw handle, which operates like the prototype. On the list of things to do! Jim

Got them, thank you very much. Will do some looking over the next few days and yeah that is a little surprising to see the caboose ground throw. Good luck on yours too! I dabble in CAD and 3DS Max myself too.
