Hello. I have some F Unit Grilles I got from Athearn and have a question. The grilles each have two parts, one is the detailed grille but the other is a grid with no grille. And it has some sort of tabs on it. What exactly is this second grid part? How is it used with the detailed grille part? I wanted these parts for my Athearn F7s but I think they are actually Highliners grilles. The B unit is the same size, the A unit grille is just a little larger. Any advice on the second part would be appreciated. Thanks, Peter

I think Athearn Genesis and Highliners are the same, Athearn bought the rights to use his shells or something like that? There's some info on the Highliner's website, if these are the ones- highlinersonline.com/10017-a-unit-horizontal-grille.htmlAnd there's an image of them installed on that page, it looks like a single piece but maybe they install the detailed one first and the plain one goes over it to give it depth, but I can't really tell from the info there. I wonder if Athearn would have a diagram on their site or in the parts catalog?

The grilles are for the Genesis units (which are Highliners shells)
You fold the unit in half to provide depth to the detailing. Frame side first and the mesh grille on the outside.
If you need pictures let me know I'll dig a unit out to photograph.
