Ok so I have a few projects in the planning phases and these are my first forays into scratch building.
- My workbench itself - GREX Hi-Rail - Univan Camp Cars - EXSIF 40' ISO tank container
The Camp cars and 40' tank have the most parts/traction at the moment. With some plans and mocks done etc.
There are other aspirations and desires that will have to come further down the road. I.e The BN Trough Train, a Kershaw Scorpion MoW Flat car etc. I'm sure I have other ideas to plan but this is a concise beginning nonetheless lol any comments, questions, crits are always welcome!
Also my E60 needs some Details and I am planning a scenery refresher/primer in the form of a test track and a few locations setting up some dioramas/modules/vignettes etc. And one final project is making an Sd60M or so based off an older article I ha e laying around somewhere. I feel like it was covered in Model Railroader and I also found a website version that thankfully I saved somewhere because it doesnt exist anymore.
I apologize for the rambling on here lol was a lot to consolidate after a m ol mg 13 hour day ;-P

To Expand about my recently Acquired E60 and I was thinking about super-detailing that but sort of don't know where to begin on it. I have started doing some research on the original equipment and the models offered like mine. I do seem to be missing some parts (i.e spark Arrestors and the like) and am slightly entertaining the idea of modernizing it for updated service with ditch lights etc. but those are all just ideas at the moment.
The main projects are going to be the 4 listed up top. with the end idea of getting some HO module or N layout going (depending on space) to display run some trains. Afterall building things for boxes is no fun and looking at screens of other peoples layouts is teasing hahahaha
Hope everyone is well and having a good summer so far... im working too much! ahaha

Evening all, I wanted to post an update to this primer and ran into a slight issue... lots of ideas and projects gathering materials and parts for - and yet have more ideas rofl! But that's only seconded to getting tools, supplies, and then space to work/setup things. The 3D printer took up my workbench for the moment but am working to resolve that. And have nice containers for organizing projects yay! Lol
So an update now for projects gathering/ready to go are:
- Just got most of the pieces for a highway/DOT Tow Plow (cheers to Custom Model Creations on Shapeways - haven't made my own version yet)
-Got trucks for the Trough Train (If memory serves me right the link was talked about somewhere here a while ago from he6agon) this is a long term project
-40ft ISO tank container -NS Camp cars -project for an ROCO MLRS conversion -military train (have various vehicle kits and 3 Alkem DODX Flat cars) -MOW office building/garage + potential diorama -CF7 -C415 -E60 -what I call my SIECO projects. Tie gons/remote sleds etc - need to figure out a way to cast/print SIECO cars they are increasingly hard to find and usually way overpriced.
OK this is just a blurb but its nice (and scary) to compile a list of projects not yet started!

That E60 sounds like a fun project! Maybe take a look at some photos of the Black Mesa & Lake Powell RR in Arizona for some inspiration. They used a fleet of E60 variants in modern heavy haul service until just recently when the mine shut down.

Thanks! and yes that is the history/lineage I was looking into to create the backstory for the CBRT. I was even thinking of leaving it in the GN as a heritage/nod to the past of the CBRT.
All i have so far (no embellishment lol) is that when the BMLP Mine shut down we snatched up the loco(s) as the GN had experimented with Electrification and we at the CBRT had looked into and decided to reactivate the program. (Still a work in progress lol)

All this talk of juice-jacks reminds me of my fave, the TXU Monticello power plant near Mt. Pleasant, TX. They used E25B's to run from their mine to the power plant. I always thought it would make a neat point-to-point shelf layout. Just before they contracted the operation, they brought in diesels and discontinued the electrics, so you could potentially run a mix of power.

Thats a good idea! I wasn't sure how I was going to run it, say in dedicated mine service like the BMLP did, or some other concept. If memory serves me right the model I have can run both off of the pantograph and the rail power which would be a great way to setup a transition siding/section of track!

Decided to create a thread solely for the E60 rather than keep updating here lol
