I searched the forum and didn't see anyone referencing these books as a source for drawings and diagrams for EMD locomtives. So I wanted to put my copies out there as a resource for anyone looking for information on individual components. Link to Master Catalogs My collection of catalogs span from the F7 era to SD60s, additionally I have books for SW1000 SW1500 MP15. These covered all the units I used to work on. Every single part of the locomotive down to the bolt is represented in these books. Below is an example of a drawing from the 190 books, there are some dimensions listed in the books but often I would print the page I wanted and then use a divider and scale to determine the image scale and then reprint with scaling to a measurable size (usually 1:48 or 1:24). I can help explain this if anyone needs help. I know there are the Simmons encyclopedias but I'm cheap and already own these. I hope these help someone. PS: Something super interesting in these books is a never produced locomotive but was obviously designed internally at EMD, a GP50T. I wonder if they made a mock up? I feel this would be a great "freelance" model. Also there are great door layouts for the longhoods for nearly all these units.

Granted, I haven't had time to go through ALL the catalogs, but where did you find reference to the "GP50T"?

Geep, this is off subject but I have to comment on your icon. I'm finishing up detailing that CF-7. Started with the Athearn version of #5, have added some details to make it more 'authentic'. Have several other IR locos in progress

I spent a lot of hours fixing that piece of shite. Fyi if you are adventurous and want to see NKC 2, she works out at ADM in Ottawa.

Fyi if you are adventurous and want to see NKC 2, she works out at ADM in Ottawa. I've added the beacon, an air line for the horn that I followed on a different CF-7 (no idea if it was routed the same on #5), KV models walkways, Cal-Scale pin lifters front and rear, and a reasonable approximation of the ditch lights. MU stands are yet to come and that will finish it for my purposes. Tsunami sound of course. Pictures are coming soon Any chance you good broadside shots of #6 & #7? I have those two units in progress. I know they changed over time, but I'm trying to put proper door markings on them. #3500 is well under way. NREX 3333 is on a short list. I have an Athearn SD50 in HBRY paint that needs renumbering and paint correction of what should be white striping. I had started ILSX 1389 but have shelved that one, probably permanently, due to all the subtleties of it being a Kennicott chop nose Lyle D

Did some thinking about this, and realized the GP40P-2 would be the closest in length to a GP50 with tunnel motor radiators. Going with this, I tried some "digital kitbashing" using a couple of Athearn product announcements (Genesis GP40P-2 and RTR SD40T-2).
Overlaying the equipment and radiator section (basically everything back of the engine compartment doors) of the SD40T-2 onto the GP40P-2, the first thing I doscovered is that the resulting locomotive would be a few feet longer still that the GP40P-2.
At this point, I quit before I was tempted to source a Genesis GP40P-2, RTR SD40T-2, and GP50 parts. Might be unique, but a little spendy for me right now...

Good news, everyone! or at least good news if you like modern units! I added a parts manuals for SD70M and a UP SD90 paint layout and some other possibly useful things. Enjoy.
