I'm almost happy with this scene on my proto-freelanced railroad, so I posed some of Rapido's newest offerings for a photograph. They're factory-equipped with ESU Loksound and LEDs, and the phenomenal detailing from the factory leaves very little left to do. I might upgrade the headlight and ditch lights to be brighter, but for now they're fine. They still need weathering either way, though. I also used a light filter off of my phone before I uploaded to Flickr...
The basic story is the railroad runs along the Mississippi River (influenced by towns like Galena, Quincy, etc, and the Dubuque Tunnel), hauling basic bulk commodities like grain, coal, lumber, steel, and the like. I've got some CMR barge kits and a pusher boat that I need to put together, but that scene is still pink foam insulation.
Today's train is rather odd, with the NPCU aka "cabbage" behind the locomotive. That's due to an unidentified m/u cable problem with one of the passenger cars, so hopefully the t&e crew gets some overtime when they run around the equipment later on in the day...

Ditto! The rock face and vegetation growing on it looks fantastic. Very realistic.

Such an amazing scene, and nice to see some F40's on Amtrak again and those rapidos are no slouch! The details, vegetation, and perspective really make this scene seem realistic!
