Thanks CD. Those are methanol tank cars. I'll post pictures of the prototypes on my Flickr soon.

Here they are: For the weathering,I thought about just sanding the cars once painted in white (and oxydyze the copper), but the urethane end caps will require the paint anyways. I want to solder a couple more cars before going to the airbrush. I am getting used to the burnt fingertips now.... PROX 40748 by Ironstef, sur Flickr PROX 40816 by Ironstef, sur Flickr

Awesome modeling Steph! Another Bobby Pitts in the making. I look forward to seeing these bad boys painted and weathered. Do work! Being compared to Bobby is an honour considering his talent. Still, these cars are still progressing but the ends will need an additional layer of white as I need to do some putty for covering bubble holes and joint cracks on the urethane caps. Scratch building brass/copper equipment is my favorite type of jobs, so expect to see even more ambitions projects in the future. Thanks for the kind words, Stephane

I had to redo the paint on all car ends as it was chipping. The problem originated from remaining wax from molding, into the urethane compound. Once rubbed with acetone, the paint now bonds beautifully. I also took the opportunity to fill holes and gaps, which the white paint made visible, with car body putty compound, then sand it flush. next: clear coat & details by Ironstef70, sur Flickr All cars looks much better now with decals added. Next steps will involve clear coat (dullcote for the PROX ethanol cars) and start weathering. Very light weathering on the Argon cars, but the Procor will require some artwork. Then will come the final detailing (pipes on the Argon cars) and adding trucks. I am waiting for those fine new Athearn 100 ton cars with spinning roller bearings caps. I am crossing my fingers to find some near April, their expected release date. The Argon cars requires blue caps painted as prototype. www.athearn.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=ATHG4595CP 434 957 is another work in progress... Van Hobbies brass caboose with modified windows and chimneys and added pipe lines underneath. Still requires more custom details (lights sockets; ends and sides) so it match the prototype. Thanks to Rapido's accurate details, I was able to take a picture of a friend's one for the completion of underframe details. Stephane

Here are a few pictures of the finalized BOCX3024 and APRX6016, on the SR&SL layout during an operation session yesterday. Once the snow has melt, I will eventually take my portable diorama outside and take some pictures outside during a sunny day. For those wondering, the reeled pipes underneath APRX6016 are, I believe, extensions for unloading at client industries. The prototype BOCX cars don't have this feature. Hope you enjoy. Those tubes look great S. Thanks. I am pretty satisfied with them too. But they also run great on the layout. I like the heavier feel when switching. Those feel more like prototype operation. I scaled them and they're about twice the weight of a recent resin car about the equivalent size. I wanted to validate that matter because I was concerned about their stability vs their center of gravity. Now I can go forward with more projects next fall. Stephane
