Hello modelers, Back in January I stumbled across an image of a Wabash H24-66, but it looked different from other Train Masters. In April of1964, the Wabash sent all eight (two ex FM demonstrator's) to ALCo and were rebuilt with a 2,350 hp engine and lowered ends to match the height of other motors. This gave me the idea for this build for my shortline, the Wraith Hill & Southern Cross. When the Canadian Locomotive Company was building FM products for the Canadian roads, they built 20? H12-46s for CN. A 1,200 hp A-1-A switcher. So as my story goes my shortline needed larger power than the two S2s. Since ALCo was gone by 1970, they conducted business with Montreal Locomotive Works looking for two 1,500 hp motors and to fit in their budget. What the Wraith Hill bought was two rebuilt locomotives. The 163, an rebuilt RSC2, which WHSC labeled it as a RSC4m. The second motor was rebuilt from a CLC H12-46 now its a H16-46 (but mechanically identical to the RSC4m). Wraith Hill calls it a H16-64. I started on the locomotive shell (Atlas N H15/16-44) last night and hopefully I'll be able to have it ride on a RSD4/5 mechanism. I'm sorry I can't post a picture from my Android, but maybe later I'll get to a real computer and download the images.
