Im interested in adding hydraulic-lines for the brakes on a diesel truck. And I was wondering how I go about doing this? Are there any bending guides any where? What size wire to use? Thank you in advance! Regards, tr1

I have several of the same type of model that require the same figure, so I made a tool to bend my own wires. I have some step-by-step photos and an isometric drawing with measurements of the tool in this gallery: www.pbase.com/mecrharris/wire_bendingOnce I figure out the bends that need to be made, I just work up a tool to make the bends consistently. I'm going to be detailing a bunch of locomotives with FB-2 trucks before long, so I'll have to make a tool to bend all those wires. As far as the wire size is concerned, it certainly depends on the scale you're working in. For HO scale I'd recommend using 0.008" or 0.010" wire. Handrail diameter on current production EMD and GE locomotives works out to 0.012" diameter in HO scale and the air lines are definitely a smaller diameter than that. Sand lines are about 2" diameter rubber hose. I like to use 0.6 mm solder for that.
