This is the fourth GO transit F40 I've built in N scale. Practice makes perfect I guess, and I do like this one a lot more. This started as an unpainted KATO F40ph. I think I got more of the details correct, the pilot is painted more correctly, and I added both antennas. I put the grabs on last which helped in the painting, and only added details when needed during that process. I still need to get a thinner coat of paint I think. I tried new paint this time. This is Proto Paint that I got a George's Trains. I believe it is made by Rapido. I have to say the color is just about perfect for the green. I did a comparison shot with one of the other F40's that I painted, it was in Scalecoat GO Green. The green and white by Proto Paint is called GO Green and GO white. These colors do match the Athearn N scale GO transit Bomabardier cars perfectly. However I tweaked the GO white so it is not so cream in color. I just don't see the warm white in my reference images so I added some stencil white to it and got it to be a bit more like the prototype I think. The decals are mostly Highball Graphics GO transit F40ph set with a custom nose GO logo I made. I also cut tiny little colored decal paper and made the class lights, which I think looks better than having nothing in there. Next time I might try to make the class lights actually light up since I'm getting more confident with my wiring. I installed a Loksound Select Micro so its got an array of sounds, bell, horns etc. I also drilled out the rear light and got it working. The rear vertical light, the bell, and five chime horn are all Miniature's by Eric parts. The grabs and fans are a mix of BLMA and Gold medal model parts. The rear porch has a set of brass stanchions and soldered railing, thats the first time I've done that and I am much happier with it than when I just painted the KATO plastic railings. I replaced the couplers, and managed to create small MU hose connections by using a combination of styrene piping and MU covers from a BLMA ultimate detail kit. If you have any other questions lmk and I'll try to help. thanks for looking.
