Finally!! Fresh outa the paint shoppe: 1 ea. CB&Q SD24. I bought this Atlas puppy with the idea of adding it to my Wishram SD24, yellow box models, and it was yellow. Well, then someone gave me a beautiful P2K SD9 and I figured I hadda have something to go with it, so the Wishram paint evolved into the "Q". The paint is the new Trucolor CB&Q Chinese Red and the light Undercoat Grey. Since Atlas did a nice job of adding details, all I hadda do was assemble it. Only one issue, the Q never had drop steps on these models, but I didn't wanna mess up the deck by filling that slot. Decals are a combo from Champ and MS.

That definitely is a curiosity, not having drop steps... also no chain on the handrailing...

While not unique to the Q, the solid porch rails were the norm for most of their diesel locos. On the other hand, some if not most of the C&S and FW&D locos had a drop step and chain. The BN converted the former Q locos to having a drop step with chain pretty quickly. I've not seen many former Q BN locos that hadn't been converted relatively soon after the merger.

The Milwaukee was another road that used solid front/rear handrails and no dropsteps.
